Some cities have well-deserved reputations for breeding great hard rock and metal bands: Detroit (MC5, the Stooges, Ted Nugent), Birmingham, UK (Black Sabbath, Judas Priest), Los Angeles (Guns N’ Roses, Mötley Crüe). Port Of Spain, Trinidad has not been on that list – until now. Orange Sky may be the band that changes that.
Signed to Granite/Universal, they released their first album, Upstairs, in 2006, and supported it with a 44-date U.S. tour opening for Yngwie Malmsteen.

Her sultry fusion of Dancehall and Reggae with a edgy rock riffs mixed with the honest, heart felt and conscious lyrics she pens herself create a musical style that is uniquely her own. Her exceptional vocal talent and her exotic looks - mix of Chinese, White, Cherokee Indian and African heritage give her unmistakable stage appeal. At the age of 22, Tessanne has already opened on stage for such musical greats as Patti Labelle, Gladys Knight, Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack, Atlantic Star and Boys 2 Men. "I always knew that I was gonna end up singing or have something to do with music, but touring gave me a chance to really test the waters, to know my limits... more than anything, it just fired me up even more to get out there and want to do my own tour".
"It is very important to me that my songs can sound amazing with a big band or orchestra, but just as powerful and touching with just me and my guitar."

Taj Weekes & Adowa present a brand new experience in classic roots reggae. With wry trenchant lyrics, a haunting dusky quiver in his voice and the knock-down sound of his band Adowa, Taj Weekes has managed to weave a rare social consciousness with an unforgettable reggae groove.

STRONG, GORGEOUS VOCALS THAT reach the places you didn't even know you had — that's Asa, her songs portraying a love of her homeland that she wants to share with the world. If you haven't heard her sing, then here is your cue: Asa's hot new single, Jailer, is available now (released 12 May, 2008) and is a lilting "Afro Folk" track with Reggae vibrations, taken from her critically-acclaimed, self-titled album.
The charming and striking Asa is pleasantly addictive; her words unbelievably touching.
Her dancing instrumentals and poignant lyrics are full of the freedom and spirit of Africa — Africa's pulse is echoed in the beat of Asa's songs. Who wouldn't long for the beautiful, secret spiritual homeland that only native Africans like Asa will ever know?
“The sunny-voiced Asa makes a
welcome return with her stunning
melodies full of the spirit of her homecountry, Africa, releasing her hot
new single with Reggae vibrations:
Jailer
— taken from the self-titled
album that was tipped as one of the
albums of 2008 on its release in
February...”

AYO is a German born artist, the offspring of a Nigerian father who had come to Germany to study
took place at the Compass Point Studios in Nassau on the Island of New Providence, The Bahamas. This album sold 145,000 copies in France, and was certified Gold.
Afro-European music is the style of a new generation Afro-Europeans.

"I don't fit into one music genre of world music, I am no typical Cape Verdian musician. I'd rather stand at the beginning of a new tradition of music of the diaspora, of young African immigrants in Europe who don't only look back."
Sara Tavares was only 16 years old when she won two of Portugal’s most prestigious TV music contests. Born out second generation Cape Verdian immigrants, Sara grew up between two cultures. Initially known as a singer and composer of Gospel, Funk and Soul, she gradually incorporated more of her African music in her compositions. Her second album ‘Mi Ma Bô, produced by
Parisian Lokua Kanza, reached gold in her native Portugal and was a mix of African rhythms and melodic pop songs. After a long wait of five years, finally her new album ‘Balancé’ is due in February 2006. In this record produced by Sara herself, she wrote and composed all the songs and played many of the instruments.
A native of Nigeria in West Africa, from 1995-1997 Nneka was a familiar voice and face in Lagos’ top night spots and hotels, leading jazz, rock&roll, R&B and African “highlife” bands. A former model, she has graced the cover of Nigeria’s Dressence and Hint magazines and was co-hostess of “Beat Wave” Music Show on the Edo State Broadcasting System in Benin City. In 1997 Nneka was nominated Nigeria’s most promising female vocalist.

She lists her idols as Fela Kuti and Bob Marley as well as contemporary artists Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Mobb Deep and Lauryn Hill.
Nneka released her first album in the spring of 2000 for Pookshah Records in Atlanta. A mixture of R&B, jazz, hip hop, pop and African highlife
With his name, dreadlocks, and easily comprehendible patois, Natty has been hailed by the mainstream press as an up-and-coming reggae artist, even drawing hyperbolic comparisons with Bob. It's a categorisation that seems to cause him discomfort – although not enough to avoid signing up for Boss Sounds, the UK's biggest reggae festival, and has sparked debate as to whether his eclectic blend of styles is tribute or dilution.
Debut album, Man Like I, proves it to be neither. If you've even a passing interest in reggae there is little on offer from this disc. Positioned slightly to the left of the jolly mockney hockeysticks of Lily and Kate, Natty's songs are a more rhythmic, culturally diverse take on the great British tradition of confessional summer music.
Patrice Bart-Williams (born July 9, 1979 in Kerpen to a German mother and the Sierra Leonean writer-activist Gaston Bart-Williams), better known as Patrice, is an Afro-German reggae artist. He also often uses his secondname: Babatunde (Yoruba: return of the father), which his parents gave him since Patrice was born on the same day that his grandfather died. His music is influenced by Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley.

In Love With You

Now Hev’s back with his highly anticipated reggae album Vibes. Though it’s been a long time coming, this time Hev’s heading back to his deeply carved Caribbean/reggae roots.
“It’s really the first music I've ever experienced,” says the now 41-year-old, who has collaborated with reggae legends such as Super Cat, Buju Banton, Josey Wales and Robert French to name a few. “I feel excited again, like I'm doing something for the first time! I feel like I can give the people something with passion and quality.”
Hev, who has been blending hip-hop with reggae for years, started working on Vibes five years ago, perfecting it in secret. One of his favorite tracks on the album, “Delilah,” is close to nine years old. The overall result is a squeaky clean reflection of Hev’s growth, and unlike his past dance routine days, he feels no pressure to attempt to keep up with his legend in hip-hop.
“I didn't want to disrespect the hip hop culture by doing a hip hop album with half the passion,” he says. “I truly believe that I've given my best to rap music. Anything more would be less than stellar culture. The people deserve better. My spirit was leaning more towards my roots.”
“The timing chose me,” he says matter- of-factly, “I didn't choose it.”

“I’m In Love With You” showcases the vocal virtuosity of this artiste, who is accompanied only by live guitars and strings on this track, a far cry from some of his previous releases, some of which have been rich in synthesized instruments and catchy bass lines.
The song is also a testimony of Ross’s many talents, being written and co-composed by him and featuring the phenomenal talents of other home-grown artistes: Jason Lovence and Jeddi Joseph on guitar and Kenson Hippolyte on keyboards. The song was recorded by Hippolyte and mixed by Francis “Leebo” De Lima.
